Lake Beulah

 

 

Lake Beulah is the place to be for those searching for a laidback, tranquil lakeside community. Located in Walworth County, Lake Beulah is just outside of East Troy. Set on 812 acres, Lake Beulah is considered one of the area’s smaller lakes but has a maximum depth of 55 feet. While Lake Beulah is not as well-known as Geneva Lake and Delavan Lake, it is a hidden gem within Lake Country.

With a rich history dating back to the late 19th century, Lake Beulah is best known for its yacht club and summer camps surrounding its shores. Of the many lakes in the area, Lake Beulah is ideally suited for water sports and being one with nature.

 

For many people, living in Lake Beulah means disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of city living. Of the five towns that surround Lake Beulah, four of them are unincorporated. East Troy, the largest town, has a population of just over 3,500 residents. Tranquil and serene, Lake Beulah is popular with residents and tourists because it has retained its small-town charm.

In many regards, Lake Beulah is the ideal lakeside destination. It is renowned for its water sports, including sailing and world-class fishing. It is also home to some of southeastern Wisconsin’s best summer camps. Lake Beulah also features many waterfront homes with expansive water frontage.

One of the area’s most prominent establishments is the Lake Beulah Yacht Club, founded in 1893. Reserved for club members, Lake Beulah Yacht Club hosts many events throughout the year, including regattas, tennis matches, and sailing competitions. For those who prefer land-based recreational activities, Lake Beulah is home to the Lake Beulah Country Club, a family-owned golf course and restaurant.

 

Along with world-class fishing and water sports, Lake Beulah is renowned for its outdoor activities. It is home to some of the area’s best summer camps, including Camp Edwards YMCA Camp. Lake Beulah also has easy access to some of the area’s best natural areas, including Beulah Island. Small and unassuming, Beulah Island is located along Lake Beulah’s northern shores. Beulah Island is a popular checkpoint for canoeing and kayaking and an excellent spot for picnic lunches.

For those who prefer to be one with nature, Lake Beulah is minutes from Kettle Moraine State Forest, one of southern Wisconsin’s most popular state parks, with many hiking and equestrian trails.
