Whitewater Lake

 

 

Whether you enjoy fishing or boating, Whitewater Lake is the quintessential lakeside getaway. While it's lesser known than nearby Geneva Lake, Whitewater Lake is a beautiful, tranquil community ideal for recreational water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, and pontooning. Compared to many nearby lakes, the 625-acre Whitewater Lake has lower visibility, making it ideal for fishing for walleye, panfish, bluegills, largemouth bass, and northern pike.

Whitewater Lake is located near Whitewater, a small town known for one of Wisconsin's best universities, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. With all of the amenities of a college town and one of the area's best recreational lakes, Whitewater Lake is an outdoor lover's paradise.

 

Like many lakefront communities, Whitewater Lake is renowned for its easy access to outdoor recreational activities near campgrounds and state forests. While nearby Geneva Lake is known for its high-end resorts and restaurants, Whitewater Lake has a laidback, small-town feel, thanks to the university.

Whitewater Lake has a variety of luxurious waterfront homes, with plenty of water frontage and easy access to the water. It is an active community year-round due to its ideal fishing conditions and proximity to the college campus. For those who love ice fishing just as much as traditional fishing, there's no better fishing destination than Whitewater Lake.

 

Thanks to its large student population, Whitewater has plenty of excellent restaurants, serving nearly every type of food imaginable. Check out Casual Joe’s BBQ for some of Lake Country’s best barbeque, featuring ribs, smoked brisket, and other classics. Another popular local restaurant is Jessica’s Family Restaurant, which serves homestyle favorites, including burgers and brunch specials. For some of the best pizza in town, check out Rosa’s Pizza, featuring pan, stuffed, and double-decker pizzas.

Just down the street from Rosa’s Pizza is Second Salem Brewing Co., a microbrewery featuring specialty beers and live music. Another popular place for beer enthusiasts is 841 Brewhouse, a classic brewpub in Whitewater.

 

Of the many local beaches, Whitewater Lake Beach is one of the most popular. Located along the northern shores of Whitewater Lake, Whitewater Lake Beach has sandy beaches, picnic areas, and other on-site facilities.

Located just south of Whitewater is Trippe Lake Park, a beautiful city park with craggy rocks and spectacular lakefront views. Another popular park along the waterfront is Cravath Lakefront Park. Located in downtown Whitewater, Cravath Lakefront Park hosts live music and special events during the summer months, making it one of the area’s most popular city parks.

If you love golf, check out Willow Brook Golf Course. This beautiful, nine-hole course features scenic fairways and fantastic greens, making it ideal for players of all skill levels, from novice to professional.

For those who enjoy camping, Scenic Ridge Campground is one of the area’s best campgrounds, with grassy and wooded campsites that can accommodate tents and RVs. Of the many recreational areas, one of the most popular is Kettle Moraine State Forest, featuring many miles of hiking and equestrian trails.
